1¼ cups flour

3 tablespoons cornstarch

½ teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon baking soda

½ cup cold butter

6 tablespoons granulated sugar

6 tablespoons brown sugar

1 egg

½ teaspoon Vanilla Extract (Alcohol-Free)

1 bag semi-sweet chocolate chips (10–11 oz)

¼ cup walnut pieces (optional)
Instructions

Preheat oven to 475°F (245°C).

Line baking sheets with parchment paper.

In a small bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch, salt, and baking soda.

Cut cold butter into small pieces.

In a large bowl, combine butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, egg, and Vanilla Extract (Alcohol-Free). Mix until creamy.

Gently stir dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.

Fold in chocolate chips and walnuts (optional).

Using a tablespoon, scoop dough and form balls. Place on baking sheet, leaving space for spreading.

Bake 6–7 minutes until tops are golden.

Remove from oven and let cookies cool for a few minutes. They will continue cooking slightly while cooling.

Serve warm for the softest texture.
Notes

Do not overmix the dough to maintain a soft texture.

Optional nuts can be replaced with other mix-ins like dried fruit or different chocolates.

For softer cookies, slightly underbake and let them finish on the tray.
