  • Total Time: 21–22 minutes
  • Yield: 18 cookies 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1¼ cups flour

  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • ½ teaspoon baking soda

  • ½ cup cold butter

  • 6 tablespoons granulated sugar

  • 6 tablespoons brown sugar

  • 1 egg

  • ½ teaspoon Vanilla Extract (Alcohol-Free)

  • 1 bag semi-sweet chocolate chips (1011 oz)

  • ¼ cup walnut pieces (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 475°F (245°C).

  • Line baking sheets with parchment paper.

  • In a small bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch, salt, and baking soda.

  • Cut cold butter into small pieces.

  • In a large bowl, combine butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, egg, and Vanilla Extract (Alcohol-Free). Mix until creamy.

  • Gently stir dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.

  • Fold in chocolate chips and walnuts (optional).

  • Using a tablespoon, scoop dough and form balls. Place on baking sheet, leaving space for spreading.

  • Bake 6–7 minutes until tops are golden.

  • Remove from oven and let cookies cool for a few minutes. They will continue cooking slightly while cooling.

  • Serve warm for the softest texture.

Notes

  • Do not overmix the dough to maintain a soft texture.

  • Optional nuts can be replaced with other mix-ins like dried fruit or different chocolates.

  • For softer cookies, slightly underbake and let them finish on the tray.
