Ingredients

1 pound asparagus, woody ends removed

1 tablespoon olive oil

Kosher salt, to taste

Fresh ground black pepper, to taste

Zest of 1 lemon

Juice of 1/2 lemon

3 tablespoons shredded parmesan cheese
Instructions

Wash the asparagus and trim the woody ends. Pat dry thoroughly.

Place asparagus in a bowl or on a sheet pan. Drizzle with olive oil and season with kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper. Toss to coat evenly.

Preheat the grill to high heat (gas or charcoal).

Arrange the asparagus spears on the grill perpendicular to the grates to avoid slipping through.

Grill for 3–5 minutes, turning occasionally, until slightly charred but still crisp and bright green.

Remove from grill. Immediately drizzle with lemon juice and sprinkle with lemon zest.

Top with shredded parmesan cheese and serve warm.
Notes

For added flavor, sprinkle with crushed red pepper flakes before grilling.

Can be made on a grill pan or roasted in the oven if needed.

Serve warm, at room temperature, or chilled.
