  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: Serves 4

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 medium head of cauliflower, cut into bite-sized florets

  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour (or gluten-free flour)

  • 1/2 cup water

  • 1 tsp smoked paprika

  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder

  • 1/2 tsp onion powder

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

  • 1/2 cup BBQ sauce (gluten-free and vegan-friendly if needed)

  • 2 tbsp honey (or maple syrup for vegan option)

  • 1 tsp chili powder

  • 2 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  • Cut cauliflower into bite-sized florets. Wash and dry thoroughly.

  • In a bowl, whisk together flour, water, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper until smooth.

  • Dip each cauliflower floret into the batter until fully coated. Place on the baking sheet, spaced apart.

  • Bake for 20 minutes, flipping halfway through for even crispiness.

  • While baking, mix BBQ sauce, honey (or maple syrup), chili powder, and olive oil in a small bowl until smooth.

  • Remove cauliflower from oven, toss in the prepared sauce to coat evenly.

  • Return coated florets to the oven and bake for another 10 minutes to caramelize the sauce.

  • Remove and serve warm.

Notes

  • For a vegan version, substitute honey with maple syrup and ensure BBQ sauce is vegan.

  • Adjust chili powder to control spice level.

  • For extra crispiness, you can fry the cauliflower instead of baking.
