Ingredients
-
1 medium head of cauliflower, cut into bite-sized florets
-
1/2 cup all-purpose flour (or gluten-free flour)
-
1/2 cup water
-
1 tsp smoked paprika
-
1/2 tsp garlic powder
-
1/2 tsp onion powder
-
1/2 tsp salt
-
1/4 tsp black pepper
-
1/2 cup BBQ sauce (gluten-free and vegan-friendly if needed)
-
2 tbsp honey (or maple syrup for vegan option)
-
1 tsp chili powder
-
2 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
-
Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
-
Cut cauliflower into bite-sized florets. Wash and dry thoroughly.
-
In a bowl, whisk together flour, water, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper until smooth.
-
Dip each cauliflower floret into the batter until fully coated. Place on the baking sheet, spaced apart.
-
Bake for 20 minutes, flipping halfway through for even crispiness.
-
While baking, mix BBQ sauce, honey (or maple syrup), chili powder, and olive oil in a small bowl until smooth.
-
Remove cauliflower from oven, toss in the prepared sauce to coat evenly.
-
Return coated florets to the oven and bake for another 10 minutes to caramelize the sauce.
-
Remove and serve warm.
Notes
-
For a vegan version, substitute honey with maple syrup and ensure BBQ sauce is vegan.
-
Adjust chili powder to control spice level.
-
For extra crispiness, you can fry the cauliflower instead of baking.
